Cineblá Privacy Policy

At Cineblá, we take the privacy and security of your data seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app, available on Android, iOS, and web.

• 1. Information we collect

  We collect the following types of information:
  • Registration data: when you sign in with Google, Apple, or an email sign-in link, we may receive your account identifier, name, email address, and profile photo, depending on the information provided by the provider.
  • Profile information: biography, username, and nickname that you set in the app.
  • Generated content: text comments, audio recordings of up to 10 seconds, uploaded videos of up to 50MB, images, and GIFs.
  • Usage data: information about how you interact with the app, commented movies, preferences, technical events, and errors needed to improve the security and operation of the service.
  • Device information: model, operating system, unique identifiers, and connection data.
  • BlueParty data: if you voluntarily connect Bluesky, we process your DID, handle, display name, avatar, and technical connection identifier. We do not receive or store your Bluesky password.
  • Public Bluesky content: to show watch parties, we may obtain and store public profiles, posts, dates, links, replies, and related public media.

• 2. App permissions

  Cineblá may request the following permissions on your device:
  • Microphone: required to record audio comments. It is only activated when you start a recording.
  • Storage or gallery: to select and upload videos and images from your device.
  • Push notifications: to inform you about replies, likes, and app news.
  You can revoke these permissions at any time from your device settings, although some features may become limited.

• 3. How we use your information

  We use this information to:
  • Identify and authenticate you in the app.
  • Allow you to publish and share synchronized text, audio, and video comments about movies.
  • Store and play your multimedia content for other users.
  • Personalize your experience and recommendations.
  • Send you notifications about relevant activity.
  • Improve the app and develop new features.
  • Connect BlueParty with Bluesky when you authorize it, publish or Like on your behalf, and display watch parties containing public posts.

• 4. Multimedia content storage

  • The audio and video files you upload are securely stored on Firebase servers running on Google Cloud.
  • This content remains stored while your account is active or until you decide to delete it.
  • When you delete a comment with multimedia content, the related files are also removed from our servers.

• 5. Sharing information

  We do not sell your personal information. We may share data in the following cases:
  • Service providers: we use Firebase, owned by Google, for authentication and storage, TMDB for movie information, JustWatch for streaming availability data, and Bluesky for the optional BlueParty connection and retrieval of public watch-party content.
  • Content according to your privacy settings: your comments, audio, and videos are visible to other users depending on the privacy setting you choose, such as public, followers only, mutual followers, or only you. You can change this setting at any time from your profile settings.
  • Third-party external content: when you use watch-party features or Bluesky-related content, we may process public profile, post, and associated metadata obtained through the Bluesky API to display or link it within the app.
  • Legal obligations: when required by law or by competent authorities.

• 6. BlueParty, Bluesky, and watch parties

  • Optional connection: BlueParty uses Bluesky OAuth only when you choose to connect your account. The authorization sessions required to perform the actions you request are stored encrypted in Firebase/Google Cloud.
  • Posts and Likes: when you ask to publish or Like from BlueParty, we send the action and content you selected to Bluesky. Attached images are processed for that publication.
  • Public watch parties: Cineblá may retain public Bluesky data while a watch party remains available for delayed replay. Content may change or disappear on Bluesky and remains subject to its terms and privacy policy.
  • Disconnecting: you can disconnect Bluesky from BlueParty. When you do so, we remove the connection and encrypted authorization session stored by Cineblá, and request revocation from Bluesky when possible.

• 7. Administrative access and moderation

  • Content moderation: regardless of your privacy settings, the Cineblá admin team has access to all comments to ensure compliance with our rules of use, moderate inappropriate content, and respond to legal requirements.
  • Multimedia content: all audio, video, and image material uploaded to the platform is reviewed and moderated by the admin team to ensure it complies with our usage policies.
  • It is not private messaging: comment privacy options, such as only me or mutual followers, only control visibility in front of other users. This system does not constitute a private or encrypted messaging service.
  • No private chats: Cineblá does not offer private chat functionality between users. All communication within the platform is subject to moderation.

• 8. Data security

  We adopt technical and organizational security measures to protect your data:
  • Encrypted connections through HTTPS and TLS.
  • Secure storage on Google Cloud infrastructure.
  • Secure authentication through Google, Apple, and email sign-in links using Firebase Authentication.
  • Encrypted BlueParty OAuth sessions to protect the voluntary Bluesky connection.
  • Restricted access to personal data for authorized staff only.

• 9. Your rights under the GDPR

  As a user, you have the right to:
  • Access: request a copy of your personal data.
  • Rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure: request deletion of your account and all your data.
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured format.
  • Objection: object to the processing of your data in certain cases.

• 10. Data retention

  We keep your data while your account remains active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your personal data and multimedia content within a maximum of 30 days. BlueParty connection data and encrypted OAuth sessions are deleted when you disconnect Bluesky. Public data from a watch party is retained while it remains available in Cineblá or as needed for its operation, unless it must be retained to meet legal obligations.

Cookies and local storage policy

At Cineblá, we use cookies on the web version and local storage in the mobile app to improve your experience. Below we explain how they work and how you can manage them.

• 1. What are cookies and local storage?

  • Cookies on the web: small text files stored in your browser.
  • Local storage in the app: data stored on your mobile device to keep your preferences and session.

• 2. Information we store locally

  • User session: to keep your account signed in.
  • Preferences: language, audio playback mode, and app settings.
  • Content cache: to improve performance and reduce data usage.
  • BlueParty: a technical session identifier, connection status, active watch party, and viewing preferences so the feature works correctly.

• 3. Third-party cookies on the web only

  • Google Analytics: for usage analysis and service improvement.
  • Firebase: for authentication and real-time features.

• 4. How to manage this data

  • On the web: configure your browser to reject or delete cookies.
  • In the app: you can clear app data from your device settings or sign out.
  Keep in mind that some features may not be available if you remove this data.

  • Information about movies and streaming platforms comes from third parties such as TMDB and JustWatch and may not always be up to date.

• 4. Third-party content

  • Movie data is provided by The Movie Database, TMDB.
  • Streaming availability information is provided by JustWatch.
  • GIFs come from Klipy and Giphy.
  • Linked YouTube videos are the responsibility of their respective owners.
  We do not control the content of these external services.

• 5. Intellectual property

  Cineblá® is a registered trademark. All original content of the app, including code, design, and logos, is protected by copyright. Movie posters and data belong to their respective owners.

• 6. Applicable law

  These terms are governed by the laws of Spain and by the General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR, of the European Union. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Spain.
